Agricola

Agricola is a prototype for a strategy role-playing game that you play knowing only what your main character knows. Initially gameplay is about surviving on the farm. 

Later you will recruit additional characters to  carry out your commands. Each character has their own Skills and Knowledge, and characters can teach /learn from each other as well as write/read books. 

Furthermore, characters develop their own set of needs and desires that the player needs to look after.  Unhappy characters might be affected enough to do poorly even at something they are good at. 

The more characters you have the more tending to your main character has to do in order to keep tabs on everyone. The work will then be done by others. 

This prototype focuses on the system in a small scale - the management of a single settlement and the community within it. 

The game begins with your character living alone on a small farm in the boonies. You live a humble and simple life. 

Not long after the first of many small groups of migrants, most of them refugees, arrive. Some pass by, but others offer to help with the farm. You become the landlord of a growing population. 

Over time the player learns about the characters backstory and the reason for so many refugees.
